Jill had been through a terrible ordeal; drugged, abducted, tied up, and dropped in a large hole in a forest near Portland, Oregon. One year later, after wounding and escaping the clutches of her captor, she is still not rid of the memories. Paranoia lives as her mistress, driving her to self defense courses and large systematic searches of the forest she was found wandering in. Even after being committed, medication and therapy, her instincts still tell her to be on guard, but this did not help her sister. She is positive it was he who kidnapped her, only this time he came back only to find her sister asleep in bed. She knows that if she doesn't find her soon, she will end up like the other victims she found at the bottom of the hole; only bones left as evidence of their capture and torture. Going to the police and telling them what has happened only reinforces the idea that she is just a disturbed girl who made everything up, including her own kidnapping and assault. She is only left with one thing to do, and that is to take matters into her own hands. She slowly starts to piece together clues, first with her neighbors observation, then with the person, who she thought to be the culprit, only to lead her deeper down the rabbit hole. As the story comes to a crescendo with the police now chasing her because of the more colorful ways she extracted information, she only has a small amount of time to find her sister. She soon comes to find that the man who has haunted her for the past year has stayed close, watching with fascination as she goes through life, waiting for an opening to make his move. She finds what she is looking for, making it as easy as just one phone call. She knows she is being led into a trap, but she wants it to be over. She doesn't really know what to expect, but is ready to face him head on, that is until the tables turn to the real purpose of his sick game.

This movie drew out the mundane parts of the characters lives, while integrating smoothly the times of transgression and suspense, making it so you weren't constantly going without a break, which for me tends to make the movie more satisfying in the end. It is pretty mild as far as violence or gore, and the rating allows a bigger viewing audience, which seems to be the common theme for recent releases. I love this actress and this character. They were perfect for each other, making the story more believable. She really is the main character, because it centers around her experiences, and only gives lines to needed figures; her, the detective she worked with, and her sister.  Everyone else filled in the gaps nicely. You can try to guess who the villain is in this film, but don't assume it will be the most obvious person. I give this movie 4½ boners up because it has the main element that I look for in these types of movies, which is simplicity.  The story line is unique, and the scenery and shooting were beautiful. I would recommend this movie to everyone, to watch alone or with someone. I assure you it isn't boring, yet it doesn't overload your senses. Have fun!
